Things to do in the Sea to Sky Corridor this Spring

Everyone has their own indicator that spring is here. For some, it’s the longer days and for others it’s the revival of sounds that have been muffled by winter (such as the chirping of birds). After a powder filled winter, full of events and shredding amazing lines, let’s welcome spring with open arms and here are a few suggestions on how to do just that in the Sea to Sky Corridor:

Fishing

Most of the lakes have thawed and people are scattered all over the region with their rods in hand. A few lakes around Whistler, such as Alta Lake, Green Lake, Cheakamus Lake and Callaghan Lake, are great spots to fish. There are also a few amazing spots in the Pemberton and Squamish area. If you plan to go fishing in any of our lakes, make sure you have a freshwater fishing licence

Hiking

Under all of that snow are trails that are waiting for you to get your adventure on. The whole region has trails galore and there is a trail for everyone. Just remember that the higher the elevation of the hike, the greater chance that there is still snow and ice towards the top so be prepared.

Camping

Camping in the spring has its benefits, that’s for sure. Because it’s early into the season, and that there is an abundance of moisture, you can have a campfire. Usually there is a fire ban in the summer during fire season but it’s rare that this happens in the spring. Also, the campsites that are actually open aren’t that busy so you have a better chance at getting a camping spot that you want. It can get cold overnight so make sure that you bring a lot of warm clothing with you.

Golf

Are you ready to get your golf game on? Imagine playing a round of golf right next to the ocean. The Sea to Sky area has multiple golf courses and Furry Creek is one of them. It’s situated right on the ocean, you will have to try to not let the scenery distract you. Perhaps you want to golf at the base of Mount Currie? Big Sky Golf or The Meadows at Pemberton is where you want to go. There are also a few golf courses located in Whistler such as Nicklaus North Golf Course, Whistler Golf, and Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club.

Horseback Adventures

A great way to take in the spring sights is to do it by horseback. In both Pemberton and Squamish there are a few companies that will take you on horseback tours around (and through) the Village. When was the last time that you rode a horse?
